Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape, repair, or rebuild the nose. A 'nose job' can address a variety of aesthetic issues such as a humped nasal arch, a bulbous tip, wide nostrils, or an overly large/small nose. Rhinoplasty is also used to address functional problems with the nose, including trouble breathing or chronic 'stuffiness'. Both function and visual appeal can be restored during a Rhinoplasty procedure. As Rhinoplasty is considered the most difficult of cosmetic surgeries, this delicate procedure should only be trusted to a highly trained and skilled surgeon.

General anesthesia is normally used during the one to three hour surgery. An 'open' Rhinoplasty utilizes an incision on the outer columella, from which the skin of the nose is pulled back before the repair of the nasal structure begins. While a small scar may be visible, it is usually concealed within the natural contours of the nose, and will fade dramatically over time. A 'closed' Rhinoplasty involves surgical incisions inside of the nose and does not result in any visible scars. This type of Rhinoplasty is reserved for the simplest of correction; most patients will require the 'open' surgical procedure.
